  1. Since even some smart folks still need to hear this… DON’T use the S&P 500 (or any other price index) to generate returns. Over the last 20 years, S&P’s up 111% but an investment in the index firms is up 209%.

      Dead horse: beaten. Here's an earlier thread, and note that many consumer financial platforms (e.g., Google Finance, iOS stocks app) will show you S&P 500 Total Returns using the pseudoticker ^SP500TR @lukestein/1113905823032287232
